Two men, 52 and 18 are arrested on suspicion of m*rder after 15-year-old boy is 'st@bbed to de@th with zombie knife'

Two men aged 52 and 18 have been arrested on suspicion of mu¥der over the fatal st@bbing of a 15-year-old boy in Woolwich, UK.

The teenager, 15-year-old Daejaun Campbell, was set upon by a group of men in Woolwich, South East London, at 6.30 pm on Sunday, according to witnesses.

Police said the boy's murder was a 'stark and sobering reminder of the danger of zombie-style knives' as a ban on possessing the weapons comes into force today.

A 43-year-old mother told how the boy begged for help in his last moments, telling her 'I am 15, please don't let me die', as she battled to stem the bleeding. 

She said: 'The neighbours were all screaming. I jumped down the stairs in my nightshirt, with no shoes or socks on, I grabbed a sheet that I had just hung up and ran out to him. I could see him lying on the floor.

'He was saying, 'I am 15, please don't let me die'. He had a slash across his forehead and an injury on his head, but there was so much blood.

Then I saw his leg. They must have cut an artery, so I put pressure on it and kept him talking until the ambulance arrived.'

Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry said: 'My thoughts are with Daejuan's loved ones as they try and come to terms with this heart-breaking incident.

'The investigation into Daejuan's death is still in the early stages and our officers are working around the clock to build a picture of what happened on Sunday evening.'

Daejaun was a pupil at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys in the town.

A statement from the school said: 'We are devastated at the tragic death of one of our students and all our thoughts are with the young man's family and friends.

'We are here to support them however needed during this unimaginably difficult time. The school is working closely with the local authority and police.'

Detective Lawry, who is in charge of policing for Greenwich, added: 'Local officers will remain in the area whilst we continue with our investigation.

'I want to appeal to you again and ask if you know anything about the death of young Daejaun. Did you see anything suspicious around the Eglinton Road area?

A spokesperson for the Royal Borough of Greenwich said: 'It is an utter tragedy that another young life has been lost to knife crime, and we send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.

'The council is working closely with the police to provide any assistance they need during their investigation.

'It is horrific that another family will suffer the consequences of knife-crime, and we understand the impact this will have on the local community.'
