Machel Mandela Internship Details

The Machel Mandela Internship will be available full-time for a minimum of six months and the selected candidate will be expected to take up the appointment by 1 June 2024.

The intern may be from South Africa or farther afield. They will be based at the Brenthurst Foundation’s headquarters in Parktown, Johannesburg.

Interns will work directly with and assist the Foundation’s staff on a range of projects and activities, some of which will require foreign travel.

Machel Mandela Internship Benefits

Machel Mandela Internship Requirements

To be eligible for the Machel Mandela Internship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Age: Under 30 years old.
  • Education: Must hold a Masters level degree.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential; knowledge of African languages is advantageous.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Attributes: Enthusiastic, reliable, self-motivated, deadline-oriented, and detail-oriented.
  • IT Skills: Proficient in basic IT skills; copy-editing and proof-reading skills are desirable.
  • Passion: Demonstrated passion for Africa and a keen interest in enhancing its economic performance.
  • Knowledge: Broad understanding of African politics and economics, and familiarity with the Brenthurst Foundation’s work.
