Bolarinwa Michael of Team Lagos State celebrated a significant victory on Wednesday as he secured the gold medal in the male 44 kg boxing category at the 8th National Youth Games.

His triumph came after a fiercely contested bout against Adenle Farouk of Abia State, marking a standout moment in the competition.

Bolarinwa’s win was the final gold for the Lagos boxing team, capping off a series of impressive performances by his teammates.

Agboola Oyindamola, Bello Olamide Lawal, and Sofiat Yakubu had already set a high standard by winning gold in their respective categories.

In an interview with Sports247, Bolarinwa Michael expressed his excitement and shared his thoughts on the intense fight.

“I’m very happy to have won the gold medal. It was a tough match, but all the hard work and training paid off. This victory means a lot to me and the entire Lagos team.”

He continued, reflecting on the journey leading up to this moment, “We’ve all been training very hard for this competition, and it’s an honour to be able to bring home the gold.

My teammates’ victories inspired me to push myself even harder, and I’m glad I could contribute to our success.”

Bolarinwa’s achievement adds to the accolades for Team Lagos, further establishing their presence in this year’s youth games.

Coach Omotade Ishola, head coach of the Lagos boxing team, praised Bolarinwa’s performance and the collective effort of the team.
