The director-general of Lagos State Sports Council (LSSC), Honourable Lekan Fatodu has dedicated the medals haul achieved on Wednesday to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Sports247 reports that four gold medals achieved in boxing at Saint Patrick’s College, Asaba, Delta State took The Centre of Excellence closer to the hosts on the overall table at the 2024 NYG.

Although Delta State still appears unassailable on top of the log, Lagos State added to their initial pool of 10 gold medals and went toe-to-toe with Edo State in the tussle for second place.

The feat left Fatodu grinning from ear to ear with delight and, while also boasting about his state’s youth development policies, he thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for making it possible.

Fatodu retorted, “For us to have achieved this is something incredible. I want to say thank you to our most dynamic, pragmatic and insightful sports loving governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. I believe all the credit goes to him.

“There has never been any doubt about the dominance of Lagos State in some certain sports events, and we have come to prove that with this phenomenal achievement. I am so happy, and my joy holds no bounds.”

Fatodu then boasted that Lagos State will continue pulling off amazing feats in the Delta State capital, as he declared that the best performances of his athletes were yet to be seen.

“From this point, we are going higher and higher,” Fatodu affirmed.
“It might interest you to know that Lagos State is rated among the few states who have actually promoted and provided athletes in the under-15 age parameter.

“It is a plus to our dedication and to our rigorous commitment to ensuring that we adhere strictly to rules and regulations of the Games.

“They have not seen anything yet. That’s what I want to conclude with.”

Fatodu and officials of the Lagos State contingent will now look up to another haul of gold medals from their track and field team to the NYG of Asaba 2024.
