The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially reacted to the electoral victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo on his emergence as Governor-Elect in the September 21, 2024, gubernatorial election in Edo State.

The party extended its congratulations to Senator Okpebholo, saying it was a well-deserved victory.

Recall that Senator Okpebholo of the APC was declared the winner of the fiercely contested governorship election, defeating his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared that the APC candidate scored 291,667 votes while Ighodalo polled 247,274 votes.

Olumide Akpata of the LP came a distant third with 22,761 votes.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Monday evening, the APC informed the Governor-elect that his victory was an attestation that his message of hope and restoration resonated with the people of Edo State.

“It is also an indication of the implicit confidence in the transformational leadership of the APC-led federal government and its Renewed Hope agenda envisioned to bring our country into true greatness and enduring prosperity,” the party added.

According to the ruling party, the victory has again proven that President Bola Tinubu is a true flag bearer of democracy by ensuring a level playing field that made the electoral outcome possible.

It also applauded the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Assembly, Progressive Governors, leaders, and teeming members “for standing strong in support of the party and our victorious candidate.”

It further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its professionalism, as well as the law enforcement agencies for their exceptional diligence during the election.

It thanked the Edo electorates for voting for its candidate and expressed optimism that Senator Okpebholo’s leadership will usher in a new era of peace, people-centered development, and prosperity for the state.
