CAF Player of Year loading as Ademola Lookman shines in big Champions League win

Tonight, Ademola Lookman enhanced his chances of being crowned Africa’s best player this year after he scored his first UEFA Champions League goal as well as provided an assist for Atalanta to shoot past Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0.

The Super Eagles forward, who is the only African player nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or, delivered an assist for Atalanta to open scoring against the Ukrainian giants in the 21^st minute, before he turned scorer just before the break.

He poked home from inside the box to give his Italian club a commanding lead.

He also hit the crossbar earlier in this contest.

Tuesday night, fellow Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface also netted his first Champions League goal for Bayer Leverkusen to pip AC Milan by the odd goal.
