Nigeria forward, Ademola Lookman scored one and provided an assist as Atalanta defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League, UCL matchday two played on Wednesday evening at Arena Auf Schalke, Sports247 reports.

Ademola Lookman who has been in top form since the beginning of the season continues his fiery form on Wednesday, by providing the first goal for Atalanta in the 21st minute, dropping a delightful pass into the box and Berat Djimsiti made no mistake from close range to give Atalanta the lead.

The Balloon D’or nominee came close in the 36th, hitting the woodwork before finding his scoring range in the 44th minute to give Atalanta FC a comfortable 2-0 lead going into the halftime break, scoring his first-ever UEFA Champions League goal.

Atalanta FC cleared all doubts for their first three points of the campaign after Raoul Bellanova headed in the third goal within three minutes in the second half.

In the 60th minute, Ademola Lookman was replaced by Mateo Retegui coming as the coach felt the job had been done.

The African Footballer of the Year favourite now has 3 goals and 3 assists in six appearances for Atalanta and he has scored two goals for the Super Eagles against Benin Republic in the last International window break during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria
