CHIDO OBI-MARTIN

Nigerian-born youngster Chido Obi-Martin made an incredible debut for Manchester United’s Under-18 team by scoring a hat-trick in the first 15 minutes against Nottingham Forest at Carrington on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

The 16-year-old forward, who recently joined United from Arsenal, earned his first start after a brief appearance against Sunderland last weekend. Obi-Martin wasted no time, scoring just 13 seconds into the game by taking advantage of a poor back pass and tapping the ball into an empty net.

Four minutes later, he doubled his tally with a precise low shot into the bottom corner. He completed his hat-trick in the 14th minute with a smart finish inside the box.

Obi-Martin came close to scoring a fourth goal but saw his effort saved by the goalkeeper. Before halftime, James Scanlon added United’s fourth, and Amir Ibragimov bundled in a fifth goal to give the team a comfortable lead.

Obi-Martin was substituted at halftime for Victor Musa after a brilliant first-half performance. United sealed the 6-0 win with Jim Thwaites’ superb free kick late in the game.
