According to the party leadership, Iyere’s exit does not affect their confidence in winning the election, citing Enabulele’s capabilities.

Iyere cited internal party disputes, including alleged plots involving Enabulele, as reasons for his withdrawal.

Edo State Chairman Hon. Joseph Omoregbe stated, “Iyere’s withdrawal shows he never intended to contest. He didn’t engage in campaign activities or print posters since his emergence as candidate.”

The party alleges Iyere aimed to exploit the party’s name for personal gain.

“We assure our supporters that Accord remains in the race with Dr. Enabulele, who is more capable than Iyere,” Omoregbe said. “We encourage our members to exercise their voting rights tomorrow.”

The election is scheduled for September 21, 2024.
