#EdoDecides2024: Shaibu, others stranded as BIVAS fails to work

Tension at Azama Primary School, Uzairue, Etsako West LGA in Edo State as voters, including the impeached deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, were left stranded due to malfunctioning BIVAS machines at Unit 5, Ward 11 voting center.

Voting continued in units 3, 4, and 6 at Azama Primary School by 8:30 am with notable organization, supported by a strong security presence at the center.

Comrade Shaibu, while addressing reporters about the issue, voiced worries about the malfunctioning machine, warning that it could prevent more than 2,000 registered voters from casting their ballots.

Some of the voters who were visibly angry while speaking with newsmen expressed disappointment with INEC over the non-working BIVAS machines.

In related news, former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomole, has denied  the accusation that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has amassed funds to purchase votes in the ongoing state’s gubernatorial election.

In a statement on Saturday right after voting at Iyamho, Ward 10 Unit 01 in Estako West Local Government Area during the ongoing gubernatorial election in the state, Oshiomhole said it was a laughable allegation.

According to him, he has not received any report of violence from anywhere across the state, as the election was ongoing.
