Fayose urges Tinubu to do more amid rising economic hardship

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has urged President Bola Tinubu to strengthen efforts aimed at alleviating economic hardship for Nigerians, cautioning that while the government is making progress, it needs to ramp up support amid rising public dissatisfaction.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Fayose acknowledged the administration’s attempts but emphasised the need for greater urgency.

“It’s not been too easy, that is the truth for Nigerians,” Fayose remarked. “This government is naturally giving their best, but their best still needs to be upped.”

Fayose highlighted the economic toll on citizens, particularly due to inflation and rising fuel prices. He urged the Tinubu administration to fast-track visible relief measures, while admitting that time might be necessary for sustainable change.

“If you say they need time, people will begin to question…what time do they need?” Fayose asked, reflecting the impatience many Nigerians feel amid persistent financial strain.

Economic analysts have raised similar concerns, pointing to the effects of Tinubu’s monetary policies on inflation and the cost of essential goods.

Fayose expressed optimism that, with consistent effort, the economy could stabilise but warned about the limitations on how long citizens can endure.

As public pressure mounts, Fayose’s comments underscore an increasing call for decisive and immediate economic interventions from Tinubu’s government, with citizens eager for a clear path to relief.
