Four Bloggers Re-arraigned Over Cyberstalking Of GTCO CEO

On Monday, four bloggers — Precious Eze, Olawale Rotimi, Rowland Olonishuwa, and Seun Odunlami — were re-arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos on fresh charges related to cyberstalking and publishing false allegations against Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO).

The bloggers are now facing a 10-count charge, including conspiracy, cyberstalking, false and misleading publications, extortion, threats, and causing a loss of shares and market value. These charges were brought forward by the police.

The case first surfaced on September 27, 2024, when the defendants were arraigned on two counts of cyberstalking and publishing false information meant to insult GTCO’s CEO, Segun Agbaje. Following their pleas, Justice Ayokunle Faji ordered their remand at the Correctional Centre.

In the new charges, the bloggers are accused of deliberately spreading false and misleading allegations via social media against GTCO, its leadership, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the entire Nigerian banking system. According to the prosecutor, these allegations were intended to create disorder and tarnish the reputation of GTCO, while also being used as a tool to extort the company.
