Harry Kane has expressed his excitement following the announcement that Thomas Tuchel will take over as the England national team manager.

Tuchel, who previously coached Kane at Bayern Munich, will officially assume his role on January 1, 2025, with the goal of leading England to victory at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Football Association (FA) confirmed the appointment of Tuchel on an 18-month contract. Kane, who thrived under Tuchel at Bayern Munich—scoring 44 goals in 45 matches—took to social media to share his delight, saying, “Looking forward to playing under the boss again!”Kane’s Thoughts on Tuchel.

In his first press conference, Tuchel explained his decision to take the England job and reject the chance to manage Manchester United.

Before the official announcement, Kane was asked about the prospect of Tuchel becoming England’s manager. The England captain was full of praise, stating:

“I obviously know Thomas very well from the last year. He’s a fantastic coach and a fantastic person.”

Kane’s positive relationship with Tuchel was well-documented during their time at Bayern. Reports suggest that Kane, along with other senior players, even tried to convince the board to retain Tuchel, despite the club experiencing a trophyless season in 2023-24.

While Kane is excited to reunite with Tuchel, some football pundits, including Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, have raised concerns about the FA’s decision to appoint another foreign coach. They referenced past experiences with Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello, who were criticized for not fully delivering on England’s potential.

Tuchel’s appointment comes after a brief but turbulent stint at Bayern Munich, where his relationship with the club’s board became strained, leading to his departure in May 2024. Despite the managerial challenges in Munich, his working relationship with Kane remained solid, and the England striker appears eager to replicate their success on the international stage.

Tuchel’s first assignment as England manager will come in the UEFA Nations League fixtures scheduled for early 2025. His long-term mission will be to guide England through the EURO 2028 qualifiers and prepare the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
