Heartbreak for Victor Boniface's Leverkusen as Moroccan starboy breaks leg after facing Brest

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface and his Bayer Leverkusen are set to be without a Moroccan star for the rest of the year.

Victor Boniface’s Bayer Leverkusen will be without Moroccan forward Amine Adli for the remainder of the year following a serious injury sustained during their recent Europa League clash against Brest.

The club confirmed on social media that Adli fractured his left fibula during the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

In a statement, Bayer Leverkusen announced, “We will be without Amine Adli for the rest of this year. The attacker fractured his left fibula during last night’s draw against Brest and is not expected to be back until January 2025.”

Adli had come on as a substitute in the 63rd minute but was forced off in the 81st minute after a heavy challenge from on-loan Borussia Dortmund defender Soumaila Coulibaly.

Amine Adli has been sidelined till the rest of the year.

Per getfootballnewsgermany, Leverkusen's sporting director, Simon Rolfes, expressed concern about Adli's condition, stating, “Amine’s injury is the bad news today. We are very worried about him. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look good. He is in a lot of pain.”

He added that the tackle was excessively hard and indicated that further medical examinations would be conducted to assess the full extent of the injury.

The Nigerian striker has been in fine form this season but has faced his challenges following a ghastly car accident on Sunday.
