The Flamingos are flying high and setting records at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, but their coach, Bankole Olowookere, is out of pocket as he has yet to receive salaries for nine months.
A top source informed SCORENigeria that Olowookere, who led the same team to finish a historic third at the World Cup two years ago in India, has struggled to meet up personal challenges as a result of unpaid salaries.
“Do you believe that he asked the NFF to pay him at least three months’ pay so that he could bury his mother and he didn’t get this help?” the source revealed.

This revelation comes on the heels of how the Flying Eagles are pleading for camp allowances at the on-going WAFU B U20 AFCON qualifiers in Togo.
Former coach Ladan Bosso is also owed salaries for many months as well as allowances dating as far back as 2022, when he led the country’s U20s to win the WAFU B qualifiers in Niamey, Niger.
Allowances and qualifying bonuses for the WAFU, 2023 U20 AFCON and the U20 World Cup also remain unpaid even though the NFF have received 17 Billion Naira from the Presidency to settle these debts.
