I’m Not Bothered About My 2027 Reelection – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has said he’s not bothered or worried about the prospect of being reelected in 2027 even as his supporters have begun to gather to declare their support.

Rather, the president said he’s focused on creating a sound economy for all Nigerians.

Tinubu stated this on Saturday in Lagos when prominent figures from the All Progressives Congress (APC), including former National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and governors from Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti States—Dapo Abiodun, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Biodun Oyebanji— declared their support for his re-election bid in 2027.

The president’s supporters and party leaders all gathered for the 2024 South West Assembly of the APC, which was held at Victoria Island with Governor Sanwo-Olu, as host and Zonal Coordinator of the APC for the president’s reelection bid.

In attendance were party leaders and stakeholders from the South-West, including senators, members of the House of Representatives, State House of Assembly members, local government officials, and top party representatives with the president’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila representing him.

Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi delivered the keynote address.

The president who’s on a two-week holiday in the UK pleaded with Nigerians to be patient with his administration, stating that he’s committed to ameliorating their suffering.

He said he’s “committed to genuine progress” and in time things will change for the better.

The assembly also discussed South-West Zone development, the state of the party in the zone among others.

Tinubu is into his second year as president having been sworn in on May 29, 2023.
