French Ligue 1 side Lyon have sent one time Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban out of the first team following an act of indiscipline according to the technical director of the team Pierre Sage, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Orban joined the Ligue 1 side in the January transfer window early this year but has failed to replicate the form that made him a huge hit in Belgium with Gent. Where he scored a total of 21 goals in 22 games under a period of six months.

A row over his nationality with Togo claiming he used another identity when he represented them at senior national team level in a CHAN qualifier, denied him the chance of making his debut for Nigeria two years ago.

At Lyon he has struggled badly leading to talks over an exit in the January transfer window. He had made his case more complicated after refusing to train with the rest of the players who have been getting limited game time. He shunned the session meant for players who didn’t play against Scottish side Rangers in the Europa League.

He wasn’t alone in the act with Cote d’Ivoire ace Wilfred Zaha also axed from the first team for a similar offense. Both players will henceforth train with the youth side with the club set to make a decision on their future when the transfer window opens in January.
