Wilshere, 32, took charge of Arsenal’s youth team in 2022 and led them to the FA Youth Cup final last season. He will replace Narcis Pelach, who left Norwich for Stoke City.

A compensation package with Arsenal is being finalized, and an official announcement is expected soon. Wilshere’s relationship with Norwich’s sporting director, Ben Knapper, was instrumental in his decision.

Norwich manager Johannes Hoff Thorup confirmed the club is close to making an appointment. “We are getting closer…we are close to finding the candidate we want,” he said.

Wilshere had previously considered other coaching opportunities, including the Aberdeen manager position and talks with MLS team Colorado Rapids.

His attention to detail and willingness to take on new challenges made him Norwich’s top choice.
