Kebbi Communities Receive N360m Climate Change Intervention

In a significant boost to the state’s climate change mitigation efforts, the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project has disbursed N360 million in soft loans to 1,800 individuals across nine communities in Kebbi State.

In a press statement signed by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris said, Governor Nasir Idris Praised the World Bank-funded initiative, calling it “apt and commendable.” during the disbursement in Birnin Kebbi the state capital.

The project according to the Governor aims to mitigate land degradation and climate change, supporting farmers severely impacted by earlier floods.

ACReSAL National Coordinator, Alhaji AbdulHamid Umar, emphasized the collaborative effort between the World Bank and the Federal Government to enhance farming activities and counter desert encroachment.

The project has identified 60 communities for support in Kebbi State, with nine already benefiting from the initial disbursement. State Coordinator Alhaji Ahmed Isa-Tela urged beneficiaries to repay loans promptly.
