LG poll: Nasarawa aspirant assures constituents dividends of democracy

As residents of Nasarawa State prepare to elect new leaders across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state on November 2, a chairmanship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the Nasarawa Eggon LGA, Jonathan Embugu, has promised his constituents democratic dividends if he is elected into office.

Speaking with journalists in the LGA on Monday, Embugu said following his contributions to the development of the area over the years, he was optimistic about emerging victorious during the poll.

He explained that he had so far been overwhelmed with the support of his party leaders and numerous supporters who had been earnestly yearning for the rapid growth and development of the LGA.

The chairmanship aspirant also expressed his gratitude to the people for their unflinching support and love since he declared his interest to contest for the top position in the Nassarawa Eggon LGA.

He further promised to run an open door policy if elected into office, adding that students, farmers, market women and less-privileged people would be regularly assisted in order to alleviate their sufferings.

“I am making it known to you emphatically today that if I am elected to represent our political party, the APC in the forthcoming local government election, and I emerge as chairman of Nassarawa Eggon local government council, I will surely bring good dividends of democracy to all residents of the area,” Embugu said.

He, therefore, promised not to disappoint his party members and the entire people of the LGA if he is allowed to serve as chairman of the council.

Our correspondent reports that the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission had slated November 2, 2024, for the conduct of the local government elections across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Chairman of NASIEC, Ayuba Wandai, had announced that the tenure of the present elected local government officials would end on Monday, October 7, 2024, after spending three years in office following their election on October 6, 2021.

While urging the residents to fully participate in the electioneering process, he expressed the readiness of the commission to conduct free, fair and credible elections across the state.
