Ngozi Nwosu Declares She Will No Longer Work for Free for Abia State After Feeling Abandoned During Illness

Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has made headlines with her bold statement that she will “never render” free services to her home state of Abia, citing a lack of support from the state government during her health crisis as the driving force behind her decision.

In a candid interview with Nollywood on Radio, the 61-year-old film star reflected on her challenging battle with a kidney-related ailment in 2012, revealing that it led her to make a firm pact: any future requests for her services from Abia would come with a hefty price tag. “I have personally said it that there is nothing my state will call me for that I would go for free,” Nwosu declared emphatically. “They would pay through their nose for me to be there. I am from Arochukwu local government, Abia state.”

Nwosu went on to share how, during her health struggles, she received crucial support from the Lagos state government, thanks to a compassionate individual who referred to her as her “favorite actress.” “It was the fame I had through the roles I played in series then that helped me when I needed help,” she explained. “The person who called the Lagos state government did it because I was her favorite actor. So when she heard I was down, she called the government to save my life because she loves me.”

In 2022, Nwosu opened up about how the swirling rumors regarding her health condition had plunged her into depression, emphasizing the emotional toll that public scrutiny can take on celebrities.

Nwosu, who began her career in Yoruba-language films and gained widespread recognition for her role in “Living in Bondage,” a pivotal Igbo-language film that marked the start of the Nigerian video film era, continues to make her mark in the industry.
