In an exciting Week 4 clash of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, Nasarawa United secured a 2-1 victory against Ikorodu City at the Onikan Stadium.

The match was crucial for both teams, each eager to improve their fortunes in the league.

Nasarawa United started strong, with Anas Yusuf finding the net in the 44th minute, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead just before halftime. His well-placed shot left Ikorodu City’s defense scrambling and sent the Nasarawa fans into a frenzy. However, Ikorodu City responded valiantly as the first half drew to a close.

The second half saw both teams pushing hard for the win. Nasarawa United maintained their momentum and found the decisive goal in the 64th minute when Kabir Balogun capitalized on a defensive error, putting his team ahead 2-1.

After the match, Balogun expressed his satisfaction with the victory, saying, “We knew we had to fight for every ball. This win gives us the confidence to keep pushing for more points in the next games.” Anas Yusuf also reflected on the team’s performance, adding, “Scoring first was important for us. It set the tone, and even though they equalized, we showed resilience to come back and win.”

Ikorodu City fought relentlessly to reclaim the equalizer, but their efforts were thwarted by Nasarawa’s resolute defense and some crucial saves from their goalkeeper. Despite several chances in the final moments, Ikorodu could not convert, marking their second home defeat of the season.

As the season progresses, both teams will need to address their weaknesses and capitalize on their strengths in the weeks to come.
