A 19-year-old man, Abba Yusuf, has allegedly killed his 60-year-old father, Alhaji Dahiru Yusuf Maileather, in the Sarkin-Noma area of Lokoja, Kogi State’s capital.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to DAILY POST, the incident occurred over the weekend around 8:30 a.m., when Abba Yusuf fatally stabbed his father.

The deceased’s elder brother, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammed Bala, confirmed the tragedy, stating that he was at home when a sister called to inform him about the heartbreaking event.

“When my sister called me, she said our brother had been killed by his son. I quickly ran to my brother’s residence only to be told he had been moved to a hospital,” he said.

Bala added that the suspect has been handed over to the police. He also mentioned that the mother of the suspect and her other two children have fled to an unknown destination.

Efforts to reach the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya, concerning the incident proved abortive, as he failed to answer calls or respond to text messages sent to his phone lines.
