President Tinubu Scraps Ministry Of Niger Delta And Sports Development

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced this on Wednesday via a tweet, following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to him, the duties of the now-defunct Ministry of Sports Development will be handed over to the National Sports Commission, which will be responsible for overseeing sports activities in Nigeria moving forward.

The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, creating a single unified ministry.

Onanuga stated, “President Tinubu and Federal Executive Council scrapped Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of sports development.

“There will now be a Ministry of Regional Development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission.

“The National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.

“The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.

“The decisions were taken today at the meeting of the Federal Executive Council in Abuja.”

KanyiDaily recalls that former vice president, Atiku Abubakar recently claimed that President Bola Tinubu is unconcerned about the struggles facing Nigerians in the country.
