Sanwo-Olu Hails Wahid Oshodi’s Election As ATTF President

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended the election of Wahid Enitan Oshodi as the 6th President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), following a unanimous vote at the Elective Annual General Meeting held in Addis Ababa on October 15, 2024.

Oshodi, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Social Development, becomes the second Nigerian to lead the ATTF, following Engr. Segun George’s tenure from 1988 to 1996.

Governor Sanwo-Olu lauded Oshodi’s decades-long dedication to the sport, noting that his leadership experience, both locally and internationally, makes him well-suited for the prestigious role. Sanwo-Olu highlighted Oshodi’s previous achievements, particularly his success in turning Lagos into a global hub for table tennis during his tenure as Commissioner, including organizing the celebrated National Sports Festival, ‘Eko 2012,’ and the International Sports Classics series.

Under Oshodi’s stewardship, Lagos gained international recognition for its vibrant table tennis scene, and Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that his election would enhance the sport’s development across Africa.

“We are proud that a worthy Lagosian has been entrusted with this important position,” Sanwo-Olu said, adding that Oshodi’s vision and expertise will help elevate African table tennis on the global stage.

With this election, Oshodi not only cements his legacy in African sports administration but also sets an inspiring precedent for future Nigerian leadership in continental and global sports bodies.
