Spotify Introduces Offline Backup for Premium Users

To allow its users to continue to enjoy their favourite songs while not connected to the internet, a notable audio streaming platform, Spotify, has introduced an offline backup feature for its premium users.

The company in a statement on Thursday said this feature has become effective, with no downloads required to stay connected to their music of choice.

Business Post gathered that the offline backup would begin rolling out on Android and iOS this week, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

This package was added to its premium users after a test run last year, with positive feedback.

Spotify noted that, “Our goal is to create a seamless listening experience for users, no matter where they are or how they choose to listen.”

The entertainment firm advised its users to update their apps to the latest version to enjoy the service, which it said would “appear automatically in the Home feed anytime you’re offline.”

It further asked users to ensure they have “listened to more than five songs recently and have offline listening enabled. Find this under Settings and then Data Saving and Offline or Storage. Look for the Offline Listening toggle.”

Spotify further disclosed that, “You can add Offline Backup to Your Library for easy access at any time” because the feature is another avenue to access music offline without using any extra data or storage.

It also stated that users have the ability to filter and sort songs within the playlist by artist, mood and even genre, adding that “the playlist evolves as you continue to listen, so you’ll always have something new.”
