John Stones scored a last-minute goal to rescue Manchester City from defeat against Arsenal in a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Erling Haaland scored his 100th goal for Manchester City in the ninth minute with a close finish.

The hosts suffered an injury blow when Rodri was subbed off after a knee complaint, he was replaced by Mateo Kovacic in the 21st minute.

A minute later, Calafiori scored a thunderous effort from outside the box to restore parity for Arsenal.

The Gunners took the lead on the stroke of halftime when Gabriel headed in Bukayo Saka’s corner to make it 2-1.

Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard was sent off for kicking the ball after he was earlier cautioned for a foul, but the visitors held on to go into the break with the lead.

Saka made way for Ben White at the beginning of the second half to keep the team in shape defensively.

The Gunners defended doggedly all through the second half before John Stones scored a late equaliser for Manchester City to ensure the share of the spoils.

Manchester City’s hero, John Stones was delighted to grab a point for the team.

He said: “You are frustrated that you don’t get to start in these big games, and before the game, I tried to channel it and have a positive attitude if needed to come on.

“Over the years we have learned as a team to stick together, no matter who is playing and to always be ready – I’m sure you have heard the manager say that plenty of times.

“I came on and tried to be inside the box for more crosses. One dropped to me, and thankfully, I put it in the back of the net. I’m pleased to have scored the goal like that.”

Up next for Manchester City in the Premier League is a trip to Newcastle United on Saturday, while Arsenal hosts Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on the same day.
