Hello Friends,
I hope you’re ready to elevate your game today! On Triple T, we’re diving into a theme that calls us to rise above mediocrity: #STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE.
Let me begin by saying, “Excellence is not a skill; it is an attitude.” In a world where settling for less has become common, those who strive for excellence stand out and achieve greatness. The Ultimate Book reminds us in Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Friends, “When you set your sights on excellence, you create a pathway for success.”
Consider the inspiring story of Sim Shagaya, a Nigerian entrepreneur and founder of Konga, one of Nigeria’s largest e-commerce platforms. With a background that includes studying at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, George Washington University, and Harvard Business School, Sim gained valuable experience working with tech and media companies before pursuing his dream of transforming Nigeria’s digital landscape.
In 2012, Sim launched Konga as an online retail store, later transitioning it to a marketplace model where third-party sellers could list their products. Sim’s journey with Konga wasn’t easy. He faced challenges like logistics issues, limited internet infrastructure, and customer trust in online shopping. However, he was determined to strive for excellence, focusing on improving customer service, building partnerships with reliable suppliers, and investing in technology to streamline operations.
In 2018, Konga merged with Zinox, a Nigerian tech company, further boosting its capacity and operations. Through hard work, innovation, and a commitment to excellence, Konga became a household name, setting new standards in e-commerce and logistics in Nigeria. Sim’s story reminds us that “When you strive for excellence, you don’t just achieve your goals; you also inspire others to reach for their own.”
As people of faith, we are reminded that “God has endowed us with unique gifts and abilities to pursue excellence in every area of our lives.” (Colossians 3:23-24). Friends, “When we strive for excellence, we not only fulfill our potential but also honor God through our efforts.”
As I conclude, let me encourage you that “Excellence is a journey, not a destination.” Whether you are in your career, academics, or personal endeavors, strive to be the best version of yourself.
In conclusion, I urge you today to STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE. Set high standards for yourself and never settle for less than your best.
