Dangote reveals his petrol is 20% cheaper than imported fuel

The billionaire and business tycoon Aliko Dangote revealed in a recent interview with Bloomberg that the price of the petrol sold by Dangote Refinery is at least 15% or 20% cheaper than imported fuel.

This news is in response to the rumours that Dangote’s fuel, a locally refined petrol, is more expensive than an imported one. The NNPCL had also once announced that it bought Dangote’s fuel at ₦898/litre.

“So, when NNPC announced our petrol price at N898 through their spokesman, I’m not sure if it was authorised, but it wasn’t the actual price. It may reflect their costs, but they included profit and other factors into the pricing,” he said.

NIS shifts focus on exposing illegal immigrants

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that it would be focusing on exposing undocumented and illegal immigrants in Niger State. 

The Niger Comptroller, Shehu Musa Ya’u, has instructed that all undocumented immigrants in the country are expected to leave the country themselves or face the wrath of the government, which would be embarrassing for them.

The Comptroller stated that he was doing his job as required to promote security and accountability for his assigned state.

“The issue of security is a collective responsibility. We are determined to increase our scrutiny of illegal immigrants and increase awareness of this issue,” he said.

PDP demands for new collation of results by INEC

The result of the Edo State gubernatorial election brought forward APC’s Monday Okpebholo as the winner and governor of the state, however, political parties of his opposing candidates have risen to challenge his win, calling out the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its vote rigging and unfairness.

In light of this, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially rejected the Edo State Gubernatorial election results and instead requested an immediate review of the poll results by INEC.

According to INEC, the collated results by APC, PDP and LP were 291,667, 247,274, and 22,763, respectively. 

NERC reveals DisCos received ₦1.07 trillion in revenue in 2023

The National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) revealed that 11 Distribution Companies (DisCos) received a revenue of ₦1.07 trillion in 2023.

According to the DisCos, the NERC failed to collect ₦385.84 billion out of the ₦1.46 trillion electricity bills for the year 2023.

In a report titled “2023 Annual Report and Account,” the NERC stated, “The total billings to electricity consumers by the DisCos was ₦1,463.24 billion of which only ₦1,077.51 billion was collected, leaving a total outstanding of ₦385.73 billion and corresponding to a collection efficiency of 73.64%.”

Passengers fear for life as windshield of an aircraft broke in Abuja

Air travellers were shocked by the shattering of the windshield of an Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft owned by Air Peace in Abuja.

The aircraft was said to have just landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, when the windshield allegedly shattered, igniting fear in the hearts of the passengers aboard.
