FG plans 50% tax relief to aid companies increase workers’ salary

The federal government has announced a 50% tax relief for firms that increase or provide transportation allowance to their low-income workers.

The tax relief is part of the newly signed legislative bill that was created to change the Nigerian tax system. The purpose of the bill is to introduce some tax exemptions for companies that increase their staff salaries.

To qualify for the tax exemption, the staff workers must have a gross monthly income, transport allowances, and monthly salary all round up to ₦100,000 or less. However, if the staff are earning over ₦100,000, the company will not be eligible for a tax exemption.

Marketers imported 42 million litres of fuel soon to arrive

Oil Marketers have revealed that their imported fuel, which is about 42 million litres, will soon arrive in Nigeria, providing petrol to Nigerians at a possibly cheaper rate.

Petrol dealers have claimed that they would not stop importing petrol into the country till the production of fuel in Nigeria was enough to fully satisfy the demands of the people.

The dealers also stated that though Dangote Refinery was doing a good job, it was not producing enough petrol, and as such, its quantity was insufficient, hence why they would continue to import from other countries.

Kogi State receives approval the build an international airport

The Governor of Kogi State has been granted permission to construct an international airport in Ziriagi, Kogi.

The approval was granted by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development as Governor Usman Ododo is determined to reduce the congestion at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

However, this news has not been accepted by Nigerians as they have aired their thoughts concerning the international airport. The majority of the netizens have claimed that the state does not need an international airport as very few people in the state travel in and out of state, and it is close to Abuja, which already has an international airport.

Jonathan speaks up about his 2015 unsuccessful presidential election

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has opened up about how he felt after losing the 2015 presidential election to Muhammadu Buhari.

The ex-president was at the maiden edition of the Raymond Dokpesi annual diamond lecture when he spoke up about his emotions after the elections, saying that he felt like the whole world was against him.

“It is not easy to lose an election as a president. You will think the whole world is against you,” he said.

China offers scholarships to Nigerian students

Nigerian and other international students have been offered an opportunity to take their undergraduate, master’s and PhD courses in China.

The Chinese Government NPU Scholarship is offering all countries the chance to participate in a scholarship that would provide accommodation, health insurance and monthly stipend for the duration of the scholarship.
