World football governing body, FIFA, has confirmed Nigeria’s Flamingos’ qualification to the quarter-finals of the 2024 FIFA U-17 women’s World Cup in Dominican Republic.

On Saturday, the Flamingos recorded their second win in Group A after thrashing debutants Ecuador 4-0.

A brace from Shakirat Moshood and goals from Peace Effiong and Chidera Chidi, secured the comfortable win for Bankole Olowookere side.

Moshood now has three goals from two games after also getting on the score sheet in the 4-1 win against New Zealand.

The team’s progress into the quarter-finals was then confirmed by FIFA after Dominican Republic and New Zealand played 1-1.

“Soaring into the last eight,” FIFA wrote on their X handle.

After two group games, the Flamingos have recorded eight goals and conceded just one.

They will return to action for their final group game against Dominican Republic on Wednesday, October 23.
