The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner in Edo State, Dr Anugbum Onuoha, has promised that the commission would not fail Edo people.

Onuoha made the promise while giving his opening remarks to commence the collation of results for the Saturday governorship election.

He assured the people that the election had been conducted and concluded.

He said the results will reflect the people’s will.

The REC called for patience and understanding.

He made the assurance following pressure and allegations that the commission was delaying announcement of results in order to create room for manipulation.

There were protests and counter protests by political parties all through the night to Sunday morning as the waiting game continued until the commission began to announce the results.

Onuoha assured there will be transparency and the process will be fair to all parties.
