Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has explained why he dropped Ousmane Dembele from his side that will face Arsenal in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League at the Emirates.

There were reports that Dembele was not included in PSG’s traveling squad after a disagreement with Enrique.

It was reported that the duo were involved in a shouting match after PSG’s 3-1 win against Rennes in Ligue 1 at the weekend.

Now, Enrique has shed more lights on why he axed the 2018 World Cup winner.

“I won’t make a saga out of it… there was simply an issue with respect to his obligations towards the team,” he said.

“I want the best for the team and I left him out. There was no fight between me and Dembélé.

“It looks like we never lost a game with Dembélé… no, we lost against Newcastle, Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Barça at home.

“If someone doesn’t comply with team rules, it means he’s not ready for a key week like this one.”

The Spaniard disclosed that he got the backing of the PSG board to axe the winger.

“I was backed by the board, director, president, club in excluding Dembélé from the squad”.

“They appointed me to build a team and that’s what I’m going to do, create a team.

“Of course, also with Ousmane Dembele. Dembélé is and remains in my team.”
