Lega Serie A announced that the match, originally set for Saturday, October 26, would be rescheduled due to extreme flooding in the Emilia Romagna region, rendering Bologna’s Stadio Dall’Ara unfit for use.

The League body initially explored alternative options, including relocating the game to Como’s Stadio Sinigaglia or Empoli’s Stadio Castellani.

However, the league ultimately decided that logistical challenges made rescheduling the most feasible choice.

AC Milan President Paolo Scaroni confirmed the postponement following an emergency meeting with Lega Serie A.

This delay comes as a setback for Chukwueze, who has recently hit a purple patch with a goal and an assist in his last two outings and was expected to start against Bologna, but will need to wait longer than expected for his next appearance.

Fixture congestion pushes rescheduling to 2025

Unfortunately, with packed fixture schedules for both clubs, fans might not see this match rescheduled until early 2025.

AC Milan and Bologna’s packed schedules, including Serie A, Coppa Italia, and Champions League fixtures, have created a complicated timeline.

Both teams are unlikely to play their postponed match until after Milan’s Supercoppa Italia commitments in early January, with the tentative rescheduling pointing to late January or early February 2025.

For AC Milan, the postponement also impacts players serving suspensions, as Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders, both set to miss this weekend’s match due to a one-match ban, will now serve these suspensions in the club’s next league fixture against table-toppers Napoli.
