Wizkid floors Burna Boy to become Afrobeats Rumble 2024 champion

The final two battled it out as the curtains closed on the NotJustOK Afrobeats Rumble 2024.

After four intense rounds of the highly anticipated Afrobeats Rumble, which celebrates the remarkable rise of African music, the two artists that advanced to the tournament's final—based on votes from fans and music enthusiasts—were Wizkid and Burna Boy.

This knockout competition, which started with 64 talented Afrobeats artists from West, South, and East Africa, recently concluded its Round of 16, spotlighting the top four artists with the highest votes in the second knockout stage, and then narrowing down to the final two.

Wizkid, coming from Group A, defeated Mavin starboy Rema in the semi-final, while Burna Boy triumphed over YBNL star Asake. The Starboy Frontier eventually went on to triumph over Grammy-winning Burna Boy in the final, with a flawless victory of 72% to 28% in voting.

The fan-voted NotJustOK Afrobeats Rumble competition, which pits top Afrobeats stars against each other in head-to-head battles, is designed to engage fans and music enthusiasts by allowing them to vote for their favourite artists, generating excitement and debates within the Afrobeats community.

The victory reflects the loyalty and support of Wizkid’s fan base, often referred to as "Wizkid FC." It also shows the strength of Burna Boy's fanbase, known as "Outsiders," for taking him as far as the final spot in the competition. This highlights the immense significance & influence both stars have in representing Afrobeats on both local and international levels.
