'We are not happy' - Super Eagles assistant coach declares after roasting from ex-Al Nassr no.7 Ahmed Musa-led Pillars

Super Eagles assistant manager Ilechukwu is not happy with Rangers' capitulation against Ahmed Musa and Kano Pillars.

Super Eagles assistant manager Fidelis Ilechukwu has expressed his disappointment following Wednesday's painful 4-3 defeat to Kano Pillars, led by Super Eagles legend Ahmed Musa, in the Nigerian Football League.

This loss marked the first time the Nigerian champions suffered a defeat at home this season at their sacred Cathedral in the NPFL.

In his post-match comments, Ilechukwu acknowledged the team's dissatisfaction with the outcome.

“Yes, in football it happens. We are not happy,” he told the club media. “I am not happy as well but this is one of the things that happen in the game of football.”

He noted that while Pillars performed better in the first half, he was encouraged by his team's second-half performance, where they broke their streak of only scoring one goal per match since the start of the season.

“Today, we scored three and it’s a sign that there is hope for the team,” he added.

The match saw former Al Nassr star Musa play a pivotal role, contributing to all four goals scored by Kano Pillars in a blistering first half that left Rangers trailing 4-0 at halftime.

Musa showcased his skills by scoring one goal after dribbling past four defenders and assisting another goal while winning two penalties converted by veteran Rabiu Ali.

Despite the heavy defeat, Ilechukwu emphasised the need for his team to convert their chances moving forward.

He also took a moment to apologise to the fans who braved the rain to support them during the match. “We shall make it up for them,” he promised.

Rangers showed resilience in the second half, with Isaac Savior netting two quick goals and Silas Nenrot adding a late third, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

As Ilechukwu reflects on this setback, he remains hopeful about improving future performances and regaining momentum in the league.
