Church usher expresses pain after being called a ‘sinner’ for attending NEW YAM and MASQUERADE festival

A church usher has shared his sadness about being called a sinner for going back to his village to join in the New Yam and Masquerade festival.

The man, who chose to stay anonymous, shared his experience on social media.

He is a dedicated church member and serves as an usher.

Despite his commitment, he has been judged for taking part in his village’s cultural traditions.

He wonders why he is labeled a sinner just for celebrating, especially when other countries have events like Halloween.

In his words:

“I am an usher in church normally, but I find it funny that everyone is calling me a sinner for always traveling home for our New Yam and Masquerade festival. Abeg, how are these two sins? That we are happy for the arrival of a new yam or that we are celebrating and dancing?? The U.S. does Halloween, don’t they?”
