In an exciting development for Nigerian football, music moguls Don Jazzy and D’banj have officially launched their football clubs. The announcement came from Lagos Liga, Nigeria’s premier private football league, which introduced Jazzy’s Supremos FC and D’banj’s Koko FC in a recent Instagram post.

Both clubs are set to compete in the league, which kicks off in December, joining ten other teams in a highly anticipated season. The league aims to provide a platform for both non-professional players and seasoned veterans to showcase their skills in competitive matches.

Lagos Liga highlighted the potential impact of Don Jazzy’s involvement, stating, “If Jazzy’s midas touch, as expressed across several other sectors, translates to football, then other teams should be worried.” Meanwhile, D’banj’s entry into the football scene has also been noted as a venture worth watching.

The league organizers have sweetened the deal with a generous N50 million prize for the champions, raising the stakes for all participants.

This announcement follows the recent launch of Burna Boy’s football academy, which caters to boys aged 4 to 21, with training centers set to open in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. As the football scene in Nigeria continues to expand, the involvement of these music icons promises to bring even more attention to the sport.
