The board’s ruling aims to uphold the integrity of the tournament and ensure that fair play is maintained in the qualification process.

As a result, Nigeria’s position in the standings has improved, bolstering their chances of advancing to the prestigious tournament amidst ongoing scrutiny of the match’s circumstances.

The match was scheduled to be played in Libya on 15 October.

CAF, in its ruling on Saturday signed by Ousmane Kane, Chairman, Disciplinary Board, said that the Libya Football Federation breached Article 31 of the AFCON Regulations as well as Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.

It declared that Libya had forfeited the match No. 87 involving her and Nigeria which was to be played in Benghazi.
