Prior to the election, the EFCC had announced its deployment of operatives to monitor the exercise and prevent financial malpractices.

Dele Oyewale, the agency’s spokesman, emphasized the commission’s commitment to electoral integrity.

“Our operatives have been deployed to monitor the conduct of the elections,” Oyewale stated. “We are committed to ensuring that voters cast their votes democratically without any form of financial inducement.”

Oyewale reiterated that vote-buying constitutes a financial crime, and the EFCC would not tolerate it. The commission’s efforts aim to safeguard the electoral process and prevent undue influence.

The EFCC’s actions in Edo State demonstrate its resolve to combat electoral malpractices and promote transparency in Nigeria’s democratic process. The commission’s presence is expected to deter potential vote-buyers and ensure a free and fair election.
