A statement from the party described the rumors as “untrue and baseless,” blaming rival parties for spreading misinformation to confuse voters and undermine Akpata’s candidacy.

“Olumide Akpata remains fully committed to contesting the election and leading the charge for progress in Edo State,” the party affirmed.

The Labour Party condemned the sources of the rumors, accusing them of prioritizing political gain over the well-being of Edo people.

“These false claims are desperate attempts to derail Akpata’s momentum,” the statement read. “We urge our supporters to disregard this misinformation and continue to rally behind our candidate.”
