Elon Musk Donates Nearly $75 Million To Support Trump’s Presidential Campaign

Billionaire Elon Musk has donated almost $75 million to a political action committee (PAC) he established to back Donald Trump’s 2024 U.S. presidential campaign, according to filings made on Tuesday. This substantial financial contribution underscores Musk’s increasing involvement in Trump’s bid for the White House.

Musk, who is widely regarded as the world’s richest man, has taken a more active role in Trump’s campaign in recent months. He has appeared alongside Trump at rallies, including a recent event in Pennsylvania, and has regularly criticized the Republican’s opponent, Democrat Kamala Harris, on social media.

Trump frequently mentions Musk at his rallies and has even promised to appoint him to a committee focused on reducing government bureaucracy if he is re-elected.

Polls indicate that Trump and Harris are in a tight race for the presidency.

Musk’s political action committee, named America PAC, raised $74.95 million between July 1 and September 30 to support Trump’s campaign, according to Federal Election Commission filings. The PAC has concentrated its efforts on grassroots voter mobilization, particularly in key battleground states like Pennsylvania that could determine the outcome of the national election.

On its website, America PAC advertises that volunteers can earn “$30 per hour, with bonuses for strong performance” for participating in voter turnout initiatives. Additionally, Musk previously offered to pay $47 to anyone who secures a signature from a registered swing-state voter on a petition promoting free speech and the Second Amendment.

Musk formally endorsed Trump after the former president survived an assassination attempt in July.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris’s primary fundraising vehicle, the Harris Victory Fund PAC, reported raising $633 million in the same reporting period. Harris, who entered the presidential race after current President Joe Biden withdrew following a challenging debate against Trump in July, has revitalized the Democratic base. She has run a vigorous campaign across the nation, focusing particularly on battleground states.

According to her PAC’s filings, Harris’s year-to-date fundraising total has reached $931.2 million, putting her campaign close to a billion-dollar war chest.
