SCORENigeria can report today that the NFF are working on reviewing downwards the bonuses and allowances of the backroom staff of the Super Eagles as well as those of the other national teams.

A committee made up of several prominent members of the NFF Executive Committee met last week to take a closer look at what the various backroom staffers earn while on national duty.

SCORENigeria gathered that this is part of the cost-cutting measures embarked upon by the often cash-strapped football federation.

Ironically, this exercise is coming at a time of a policy somersault by the same NFF, who previously abolished the position of team co-ordinator in the national teams so as to save costs only to now re-instate this position.

It was further learnt that the committee wishes to re-organise the support staff of the various national teams.

“Some of these backroom staff have overstayed their welcome,” a source said.

It is on record that the NFF are yet to pay up the outstanding bonuses and allowances of the Super Eagles dating back to 2021.

The Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets are also yet to be paid despite the release of funds by the Federal Government in this regard.
