I’ve never been in a fully committed relationship – Ayra Starr

Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr is making waves with her chart-topping hits and her bold take on love and relationships. In a candid interview with American singer Coco Jones for Rolling Stone, Ayra Starr, who has yet to experience a fully committed relationship, She revealed her aspirations for future dating.

When asked if she would consider dating someone from the music industry, Starr’s response was both playful and revealing. “In the dream world, it wouldn’t be somebody that is in the industry. Probably just like a billionaire. On a yacht. In Dubai. In a thong,” she quipped, referencing a viral social media trend about living the luxurious life. Laughter punctuated her words, highlighting her light-hearted approach to the topic.

As the conversation delved deeper, Starr emphasized that her standards for relationships have dramatically shifted. “I’m so happy I wasn’t really dating before I started music. I didn’t really know what I was missing,” she reflected. “Now that I’ve waited this long to date, I have very high standards. If it’s gonna be hard to meet them, it’s gonna be bye-bye.” She also added with a grin, “But I don’t have time for myself; talk less of a boy.”

Despite her playful demeanor, the 21-year-old artist expressed a sincere desire for love. In a recent interview with Dazed Magazine, she shared, “I want to fall in love. I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story’ about what love would look like if I was.” Describing herself as a “lover girl” at heart, Starr admitted she is still very much single.

Clarifying her relationship history, Ayra Starr noted, “I’ve never been in a fully committed relationship. I’m just very strong headed about it.” While she acknowledges having been in situations that weren’t quite relationships, she remains hopeful for what the future holds.
