Chukwueze struggles under new manager Paolo Fonseca

Chukwueze has struggled for regular playing time under new AC Milan manager Paolo Fonseca, making only six appearances from the bench in all competitions this season.

The 24-year-old scored his first league goal of the season in a victory over Udinese; he capitalised on a rare start, scoring with a composed finish just 12 minutes into the match against fellow Super Eagles teammate Maduka Okoye.

With the victory, Milan moved up to fourth in the Serie A standings with 14 points from eight games, five points behind leaders Napoli, who won 1-0 away at Empoli.

Everton targets Chukwueze in January transfer

Chukwueze joined Milan in the summer of 2023 and Everton believes his talent and potential make him a valuable addition to their squad.

The Nigerian winger's move to the English Premier League could be challenging due to the player's high financial demands.

However, The Friedkin Group, which is in the process of acquiring a majority stake in Everton, is expected to provide the necessary funds for such a transfer.

Everton are keen to strengthen their squad and avoid another relegation battle, signing a winger like Chukwueze is seen as a priority for the club.

In addition to Chukwueze, Everton are reportedly considering other options, including Santiago Castro. Both players are currently plying their trade in Serie A, a league that The Friedkin Group has experience operating in through their involvement with Roma.

Everton's pursuit of Chukwueze comes at a time when they are struggling in the Premier League, currently sitting in 16th place.

The club will be hoping to improve their fortunes in the second half of the season, and the addition of a talented winger like Chukwueze could be a key factor in their success.
