Chinaza Uchendu

Super Falcons forward Chinaza Uchendu has joined the French Ligue Feminine side Nantes from Galatasaray.

The former Rivers Angels star struggled for regular playing time in Turkey last season with only five league appearances for the champions.

She has now decided to end her short stay in Turkey to team up with Nantes in France while expressing her delight at the opportunity.

Uchendu said: “I am happy to join the FC Nantes club. I will discover this championship, which I know almost nothing about,” she told the club’s official website.

“But this is not the first time I have come to France. I took part in the World Cup in 2019 (Nigeria was eliminated by Germany in the round of 16).

“I remember the crowd. I had played in front of so many people before. I had faced big names. I am super excited at the idea of meeting this crowd again, the fans, of creating new memories.”

The 26-year-old made her Super Falcons debut in 2018 at the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, and she has gone on to represent Nigeria at numerous competitions.

She started her European adventure with Portuguese club Braga in 2018, and she has played for the likes of Linkoping FC and South Korean side Gyeongju.
