The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are set to battle fierce rivals the Black Satellites of Ghana in the final of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) B U-20 qualifiers.

The two giants of West African football are set to battle to determine the best at the tournament.

Flying Eagles of Nigeria preview

The Nigerian Flying Eagles arrived in Lome, Togo as one of the favorites for the WAFU B U20 Men's Tournament.

The Flying Eagles landed in Lome as favorites following a rigorous one-week camping program at the Remo Stars Training Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State where they got a N1 million boost.

The Flying Eagles won the last edition and are expected to retain the trophy.

In their opening game of the WAFU B U-20 AFCON, Nigeria's Flying Eagles were beaten 0-1 against Burkina Faso.

In the 56th minute, Burkina Faso scored the only goal of the game and held on for three points.

The Flying Eagles then went on to defeat Cote d'Ivoire 2-1 in a final Group B encounter on Thursday, October 24, 2024.

The victory meant they qualified for the knockout stage with a superior goal difference.

In the semifinal, the Flying Eagles defeated the Junior Mena of the Niger Republic 3-1.

Niger scored first but the Flying Eagles responded scoring three goals to get to the Final.

The outcome guaranteed the Flying Eagles a spot in the Africa U20 Cup of Nations the following year.

Black Satellites of Ghana preview

The Black Satellites of Ghana arrived in Lome as a massive contender for the title.

They started with an entertaining 2-2 draw against Benin Republic.

In their second group game, Ghana dispatched the Junior Mena of Niger Republic 2-0.

The Black Satellites then played out a 1-1 draw against hosts Togo to end the group phase and advance to the knockout round.

In the semifinals, they defeated the Junior Elephants of Ivory Coast 2-1 to book a final spot against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria.

The game between the Flying Eagles and Black Satellites is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
