U-17 WWC: “I Always Put My Best in All I Do” – Shakirat Moshood Delighted With Early Goal in Flamingos’ World Cup Opener

Flamingos forward Shakirat Moshood expressed her delight after scoring Nigeria’s fastest goal in the ongoing U-17 Women’s World Cup, just two minutes into the match against New Zealand.

Reflecting on her achievement, she said, “I feel so happy. My aim was to score more than one goal, but Alhamdulillah, that is my first match, and I’m happy to score one goal.”

When asked about playing in her first World Cup, she added, “I feel so good because that is my first match with oyinbo (white) people, and I always do my best in every match that I am chosen to play.”

Moshood also shared her confidence going forward, promising to put in more effort in future matches: “I feel very confident and I know in other matches, I’ll do my best and put more effort. I know I’ll score another goal.”

Looking ahead to the next game, Moshood encouraged Nigerians to expect more, saying, “Nigerians should expect more goals from me because I always put my best in all I do.”

Her teammate, Farida Abdulwahab, also recounted her debut and spectacular goal in the same match, expressing gratitude and pride for making her mark in her first-ever World Cup appearance.

The Flamingos are already looking forward to their next match with Ecuador tomorrow.
