Janice, the mother of Music Executive, Sean Combs aka Diddy, has warned people against passing quick judgement on her son over sex charges slammed against him.
She issued this advice while speaking to the BBC on Monday.
According to Janice, most critics have not heard his side of the story before arriving at their conclusions about the rapper.
According to a statement from her which was issued by her lawyer, Natalie Figgers, she described it as “heartbreaking” to see people judge based on “lies.”
“It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies.
“It is truly agonising to watch the world turn against my son so quickly and easily over lies and misconceptions, without ever hearing his side or affording him the opportunity to present his side,” Janice said in the statement.
Federal agents in New York had, on Monday, September 16, arrested Diddy, CEO of Bad Boy Records, on sex trafficking and other charges.
The charges, according to the Southern District of New York, include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The authorities accuse Diddy and his associates of forcing females into sexual activities.
In her reaction, however, Diddy’s mum holds that the truth is being mixed up with the lies.
Janice explained that her son’s earlier civil suit brought against him by ex-girlfriend, R&B vocalist, Cassandra Ventura, for sexual abuse and others, was settled out of court because the Rapper wanted to avoid these lies being paraded as the truth.
“My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise.
“Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed.
“This is why I believe my son’s civil legal team opted to settle the ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit instead of contesting it until the end, resulting in a ricochet effect as the federal government used this decision against my son by interpreting it as an admission of guilt,” she said.
Diddy is presently being held in a Manhattan detention centre, with his next court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
