A Nigerian lady @sarahbecker has captured attention online for her extreme hygiene practices as she cleans her Okras with soap and sponge before cooking.

The viral clip shared on TikTok recorded a little amount of Okra in her kitchen sink, ready for cleaning.

Speaking in the background, the lady wonders how the majority could consume their Okra without washing it with soap.

To justify her action, she mentioned that customers often touch the Okras in the store contaminating it with germs.

The sight of customers touching the Okras with bare hands often discouraged her from buying fresh Okra in African shops.

The lady stated that it is important to ensure a germ-free Okra as the skin cannot be peeled off before consumption.

It is absolutely time-consuming but she prefers to consume germ-free Okra for health reasons which she does by washing and scrubbing with a sponge and soap.

As the video goes viral, it has sparked differing reactions as netizens claimed that Okra shouldn’t be cleaned with soap.

Many speculate on the possible harm of the soap’s chemical to the immune system while others opined that she utilizes a washing machine instead.
